Roman Around – Living History Weekend

Saturday 26th July to Sunday 27th July, 10am to 4pm

£3 per person, Under 3s Free

Summary

Join us in celebrating the Roman History of the Bosworth area.

Long before the Battle of Bosworth took place, the site housed a Roman Temple to Mars the God of War.

Members of The Northern Horse and their steeds, will be showing how the early Roman cavalry formed an important part of the famous Roman Army, which conquered much of the known world. This will include some arena demonstrations (weather permitting).

Boudicca, leader of the British Iceni Tribe will be there to tell her story, she’s not a fan of the Romans though, so there maybe some trouble!

Leaping forward towards the end of the Roman occupation of Britannia, the Batavi re-enactment group will show aspects of life for late Roman soldiers and their wives, with military and cooking demonstrations and a 4th century civilian fashion show.

Alongside the reenactors, visitors will have a chance to see some of the amazing finds discovered at the Bosworth Temple site through metal-detecting. Younger visitors can have a go at Roman themed crafts and object handling is available for all.

Don’t miss out on this great historical day.

£3 per person, Under 3s Free. Pay on the Day.
