Elizabeth Chadwick: What Happens in the Holy Land Stays in the Holy Land
Saturday 18th August, 2:45 pm - 3:15 pm
Further Details
In 1183, the great William Marshal was still a household knight and in less than a state of grace when he embarked for Jerusalem having promised his dying lord, the eldest son of Henry II, that he would go there to pray for him and fulfill the crusading vow that the young man could not. Although we know a great deal about William Marshal’s life, his time in Outremer is a blank page. But just what might have happened there?
Elizabeth Chadwick is a million seller multi award winning writer of historical fiction. Her work has been translated into 24 languages. She has lectured at numerous historical conferences and venues, which include giving the Founder’s Day lecture on William Marshal at Cartmel Priory and lectures for Cadw on the Marshal and Eleanor of Aquitaine. She also advised Thomas Asbridge’s researcher preparatory to the making of The Greatest Knight documentary for the BBC. She is a member of the Royal Historical Society.
