Leanda de Lisle Talk: White King – Charles I Traitor, Murderer, Martyr in The Heritage Room at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre on Sunday 1st July.
To some Charles I was a martyr crowned in white, the symbol of innocence: to others he was the hated White King of ancient myths. Previously unseen royal correspondence informs a fresh portrait of a king who was principled, radical and brave, but also fatally blinkered, and a maligned queen who was a warrior and political player as impressive as any Tudor consort. Join Leanda De Lisle for a discussion on her new book.

James Ross: Henry VI – A Good, Simple, Innocent Man
Saturday 18th August, 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm
In an age of personal kingship, understanding the character of King Henry VI of England (reigned 1422-61, 1470-1) and the ways in which he was spectacularly ill-suited to be king, hold the key to understanding the disasters that engulfed England during his reign, including final defeat in the Hundred Years War and the outbreak of civil war. The talk will investigate Henry’s personality and his role in the early stages of the Wars of the Roses.
