The hugely popular Bosworth Medieval Festival returns this August!
The two-day event – which attracts thousands of visitors, re-enactors and traders from across the UK will take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August this year, at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.
During the festival weekend the Visitor Centre, 1485 Tithe Barn Cafe and toilets are open to festival ticket holders only.
Please note, much of the festival site is on agricultural fields and therefore access to certain areas of the site can be difficult for wheelchair users.

Main event arena
The event will feature battle re-enactments by the Wars of the Roses Federation – including the Battle of Towton of 1461, which started the Yorkist reign, each morning and The Battle of Bosworth, which ended it, as the finale on both days.
Destrier’s horsemen and women will be returning with their mounted skill at arms and cavalry display and the fascinating Death of Richard III presentation, which was a huge hit with the crowd in 2019. They will also play a major role in the Battle of Bosworth re-enactments, as Richard and Henry and their mounted forces take to the battlefield.

While not busy in the main arena or otherwise active, the reenactors will welcome you to view their camps.

A Taste of History demonstrating cookery and a chance to taste their creations.

On both days there will be three author talks in the Heritage Room. There is an extra charge for these talks. There will also be book sales and signings by the authors.

Medieval Musicians – Archaedium
A medieval jester to amaze you with fire, juggling, danger, excitement, stupidity & audience participation galore. Including the timed performances of:
- Inflamia A frenetic frenzy of fearsome fire, along with feats of derring-do. Frightening but fun. Safe but stupid.
- What a Palaver’s World of Wonder A breathtaking manic romp showcasing a 30 year career of stupidity.
The King’s Executioner (who is much friendlier than he looks) will be roving the site
Mini guided walks
Monday 22nd August : Rose Laying Ceremony: 11.00 am
On the anniversary of the Battle of Bosworth you are invited to join local dignitaries for a commemorative Rose Laying Ceremony at the Bosworth Sundial Memorial. We will remember all those that died on both sides during the Battle of Bosworth on this day in 1485.
Members of the public are warmly welcomed to attend and are invited to lay their own roses.
A great day out for all the family!
